The Great Outdoors
Lace up your adventure shoes and hold onto your hats – a weekend of exploration is coming at ya! Historic sites at Autrey Mill, National Park Land, river tubing and even teeing off at our public golf course – with so much to do outside, you could probably spend the whole weekend without ever stepping indoors (but we wouldn’t recommend it – our newly renovated hotels are much nicer, we promise).
Johns Creek
Johns Creek, GA
Day 1
4:00pm Check-in to your hotel and lace-up your walking shoes – it’s time to explore!
4:30pm Make a quick stop at Fresh to Order to get everything you need for a picnic. There’s nothing like dining right on the water.
5:00pm Park at the Jones Bridge Unit trail head of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. The trail meanders along the riverbank, offering lovely water views. It won’t take long for you to feel like you’re not in the middle of the Metro. You’ll find several places to stop & picnic, fish or dip your toes in the water (chilly!). While you’re there don’t miss views of the historic Jones Bridge stretching across the river!
8:00pm Rest your feet and kick back with a beer or margarita on Cantina One 41 . You’ll love this Southern California inspired Mexican restaurant serving fresh seafood and exquisite SoCal dishes!
10:00pm You think today was fun? Just wait to see what we’ve got lined up for tomorrow!
Day 2
10:00am After a good night’s sleep, pack a cooler and some snacks and head straight to River Tubing on the Chattahoochee! They provide the shuttle and the equipment to allow you to see the city from a whole new perspective.
1:00pm Step out of the river, into your car, and take a short drive over to Mavericks Cantina, and get some tacos and a margarita to keep your afternoon rolling!
3:00pm Tee time at RiverPines Golf! The natural landscape of the Chattahoochee River is the perfect backdrop to manicured Bermuda fairways and bentgrass greens. They’ve got five sets of tees, so you’re sure to find a course at your level. Not even sure how to hold a club? They also offer lessons! With golf such a big part of the Johns Creek Community, consider it an act of “local immersion.”
5:30pm Hungry again?? Don’t worry, we would be, too! You can’t leave Johns Creek without trying something at Sugo Kitchen. Introduce your tastebuds to what happens when Italian and Greek meet. Enjoy yourself, but don’t get too comfortable – you’ve still got a concert to go to!
8:00pm Where else can you hear an unplugged concert fill the rafters of a beautiful, mid-1800s church? Delight your senses to an evening of live music and wonderful acoustics at the one and only Warsaw Church – just one of several historic buildings on-site at Autrey Mill Nature Preserve.
10:30pm Zzzzzzzz….
Day 3
9:00pm Up and at ‘em for your last day in Johns Creek! Time to get some coffee and crepes at Egg Harbor Cafe. The Key West Crepes are a MUST!
11:00am A final outdoor experience you won’t want to miss is the Veteran’s Memorial Walk in Newtown Park. This 4-acre memorial features a hard scaped trail, fountain, benches, and gazebo. It stands as symbol of remembrance and respect for all the men and women who have and currently serve in the United States Armed Services. Be sure to spend time at The Wall That Heals, a replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s Wall honoring those who served in the Vietnam War.
12:00pm Don’t leave town without a sweet treat! Where’s the Scoop is just across the street, so grab a bubble tea or some rolled ice cream!
1:00pm We hope you’ve enjoyed your stay! Y’all come back now, ya hear?
