5 Reasons to Head to SELC’s Championship in Johns Creek This Weekend

Southeastern Lacrosse Championships

It’s SELC weekend in Johns Creek! Tournament Director Liz Tumblin popped-in to tell us why the games should be on your must-see list this weekend:

Lacrosse?  What’s lacrosse?  Isn’t that a car Buick makes?  Here are five reasons why you should experience the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference’s Championship Tournament this weekend at Northview High School:

1. The Game

Now called the ‘fastest game on two feet,’ lacrosse has its origins in a tribal game played by Native Americans. How often do you get to see something that started back in the 1600s?

2. Your Alma Mater

Since the area is a melting pot of many from southern schools and universities, your school may be playing.  Georgia Tech perhaps?  Auburn University?  How about Kennesaw State? All are represented at the SELC tournament.  Wear your colors and support your school!

3.The Food

It’s not just a concession stand. Abbotts Bar and Grill from right here in Johns Creek is even offering a salad to go along with the standard fare of burgers and hot dogs.  There’s nothing quite like eating a hot dog outside, grilled by someone else is there?

4. The Price

Students in a lacrosse jersey are admitted free all weekend, and children 9 and under are always free. A day pass for an adult is only $10.

5. One & Done

Lose and you’re out!  What’s more exciting than watching a close game where the winner moves on, with a chance to represent the South at the national tournament in May. It’s intense and the players feed off the energy of the crowd!

We hope this is more than enough to spark your interest!  For more information on teams and game times this weekend, visit www.selc.org.
