Four Reasons You Should Visit Johns Creek this October

If you live in the Atlanta area, you know there’s no shortage of Fall festivities for you and your family to partake in. So what sets our little slice of heaven between 400 and 85 apart from all the other burbs? We could write a book! But for the sake of your time (and ours), here’s just four of our Autumn must-do’s in the Creek:

1. Fall foliage along the Chattahoochee

Did you know there’s a National Park that runs right through Johns Creek? That’s right – the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area sits right along the banks of the river and is accessible for hiking & picnicking at four different spots throughout the city. Check out the Jones Bridge Trailhead to trek an easy, level path for views of autumn leaves and historic Jones Bridge, originally constructed at the turn of the century. (Trail map here.)

2. Johns Creek Arts Festival

Fall was made for festivals, and October 15th & 16th the fields across from Atlanta Athletic Club will once again become covered with over 100 artists. Browse vendor booths full of anything and everything from paintings, pottery, metal work, glass – (BREATH) – yard art, jewelry, goodies – you never know what you’ll find! Never to early to start that Christmas shopping, too… (Get the full schedule & directions here.)

3. Johns Creek Restaurant Week

This is your official excuse to try out that restaurant you keep hearing about! October 16th – 22nd, 17 of Johns Creek’s restaurants are rolling out the red carpet, showcasing special pre-fixed menus featuring their signature dishes at a special price. From Italian to Cuban to Greek – or just that classic, can’t-go-wrong burger – see what makes Johns Creek a foodie’s paradise! (Browse participating restaurants, menus and more by downloading the free JCRW mobile app here.)

4. Spooky Mill

Finally, it’s just not October without a haunted house and free candy, and Autrey Mill’s Heritage Village has got you covered. Stop by October 28th & 29th for family Halloween fun, complete with games, trick-or-treating, activities and concessions. There’s even a Jr. Spooky Mill experience before it gets dark for your younger kidos! It’s a historic and festive fall experience all rolled into one – don’t miss it! (Grab your tix here.)
