Chef Brings Culinary Delight to Johns Creek, Georgia

Johns Creek Hilton Garden Chef

There is much more than meets the eye at Hilton Garden Inn John’s Creek – and his name is Chef Maurice Lajoie.

Since joining the staff just over a year ago, Chef Lajoie has revolutionized the culinary experience at the hotel, completely redesigning the menu with a mix of tried and true family recipes combined with fresh takes on the classics.

Cooking has always come naturally to Lajoie, from growing-up preparing meals for his family and during his service in the military, to being a head chef at Atlanta’s Ruth Chris’s Steakhouse and The Heritage Golf Club. “I’ve always liked to eat,” says Lajoie. “Everyone always centralizes around the kitchen. It’s a heart thing – its a comfort to me to feed people. I rather enjoy it, and it just so happens that I turned out to be good at it, as well!”

Time after time, guests are blown away by the variety and quality of dishes offered at Johns Creek’s Hilton Garden Inn. Many business travelers have favorites they can’t get enough of, and request the same dish each time they’re in town (rumor has it the salmon is to die for!). Chef Lajoie also changes-up the menu week-to-week to keep repeat travelers wowed and looking forward to more.

Just one of Chef Lajoie’s signature dishes is his Pan-Asian Ribs. “These are not your run-of-the-mill BBQ ribs,” says Lajoie, who prepares these baby-back-ribs with a dry rub of ginger, pepper, onion and garlic before slow-roasting them for over three hours, then topping them off with a perfect amount of sweet and spicy pepper sauce. “The flavor of this dish is a ‘slap-your-granny kind of thing.’” Other menu items include house-made sweet potato kettle chips served with sweet & spicy ketchup, a variety of homemade soups and even a brownie sundae that words cannot do justice.

When asked where he find his inspiration for the menu, Chef Lajoie says he simply enjoys trying new things. “Cooking is not something that I was ever taught was hard. It’s always been something thats fun,” says Lajoie. “You walk in, you see what you have, and you make something out of it. It’s like growing a garden – you start with the seed, and you work your way through.”

“I enjoy working in Johns Creek. It’s a beautiful area and we have an incredible staff that creates a family atmosphere for employees and clientele to enjoy,” says Lajoie. The Hilton Garden Inn is a treasure to Johns Creek, and just one of the many things that truly makes the City exceptional.
